Iris Mayr studierte Kommunikationswissenschaften, Handelswissenschaften und Spanisch in Linz, Salzburg und Sevilla. Von 1996 bis 2007 war sie in verschiedenen Funktionen bei der Ars Electronica tätig, unter anderem war sie dort mit der Leitung des Prix Ars Electronica betraut. Von 2003 bis 2004 war sie Tutorin und Forschungsassistentin an der Universität Salzburg. 2006 kuratierte sie gemeinsam mit Lev Manovich, Yuko Hasegawa und Pi Li die Biennale in Südkorea „Media City_Seoul“, 2008 konzeptionierte und leitete sie die Eröffnungsfeierlichkeiten zu Linz09 –  Kulturhauptstadt Europas. Von 2010 – April 2013 war sie für die Programmgestaltung des Kepler Salon verantwortlich. 2013 kuratierte sie gemeinsam mit Andreas Kupfer und Petra Schabhüttel die KinderUniSteyr. Iris Mayr arbeitet als selbstständige  Kuratorin und Kulturmanagerin mit dem Schwerpunkt digitaler Kommunikation.

Studied communication science and business administration in Linz, Salzburg and Sevilla. 2003/2004 research assistant and tutorials at the University of Salzburg (Department of Audiovision/Digital Communication and the ICT&S Center). From 1996 till 2007 member of the Ars Electronica (Festival Ars Electronica, Production, Prix Ars Electronica and Curatorial Team). 2006 curator together with Lev Manovich, Yuko Hasegawa and Pili at the Biennale Media City_Seoul 2006 in Seoul/Korea. 2004-2007 producer of the Prix Ars Electronica – International Competition for CyberArts. 2007-2009 Conception and project management of the grand opening event for Linz09 Cultural Capital of Europe. From 2010 until April 2013 she curated the Programme of the Kepler Salon in Linz. (http://www.kepler-salon.at/). In September 2013 she co founded the Hub Linz – Smart Office with Albert Ortig and Michael Badics, which will be opened beginning of 2014. Iris is working as a freelance project manager and curator.
